The British Standard covering the Selection and Positioning of Portable Fire Extinguishers (BS 5306) was up-dated in October 2012 and yet our engineers on their travels often spot the wrong type of extinguisher for the type of fire risk it is designed to protect.

We particularly see powder extinguishers, which if discharged in the wrong place can cause a sudden reduction in visibility, may impair breathing and thus jeopardise safe escape incorrectly used.
