Landlord Smoke Detector Regulations
Smoke Detectors become mandatory in all rental properties (December 2013)

A note for all landlords...

The Energy Act has received royal assent and includes powers for the government to make it mandatory for landlords to fit smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in all private rented homes, a measure that was fully supported by the National Landlords Association.

Although these powers have still to be exercised we would urge you to immediately install and maintain detectors if you haven’t yet done so.

They have the potential to save many lives each year and come at very little cost.

Please contact us if you would like us to attend to this on your behalf.
